Children's Ministry
But Jesus
said, "Let the little children come to me, and don't prevent them. For
of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." Matthew 19:14
Vacation Bible School
A special time of fun and learning for children is held every summer.
Stories of Old and New Testament characters illustrate the variety of
ways in which God can work in our lives on a daily basis. Life-changing
Bible studies. Exciting games, crafts, recreation and songs help
children discover God's wonderful power.
Music,

Children are given many opportunities to become active and dedicated
members at South Texarkana. They can become involved through Sunday Bible
Study, music ministries, and mission education as described in more
detail on those pages of this brochure.

South Texarkana ’s Youth Ministry offers Middle
School (grades 7-8) and High School (grades 9-12) students a

Older Adult Ministry
South
Texarkana
Baptist Church is very fortunate to have older adults from nearby
retirement communities and neighborhoods as part of our church family,
sharing their experience and energy as a vital part of South Texarkana. There
are a number of opportunities designed especially for our older adults.
Older
Adult Retreats/Conferences
Periodically, South Texarkana 's older adults renew and rededicate themselves
at retreats and conferences. Growth and worth in
God's kingdom is highlighted in church and associational events.
Transportation
South Texarkana provides a van transportation service to residents of nearby
Texarkana ( College Hill ) Community.
Older
Adult Advisory Team
The ongoing ministry needs and desires of South Texarkana 's older adults are
reviewed on a regular basis by the Older Adult Advisory Team. This team
provides opportunities for growth in faith and service and for
intergenerational exchange. An emphasis an older adults is given in May
each year.
Music Ministry
At
South Texarkana music is ministry. It is the ministry of worship leadership;
the ministry of teaching; the ministry of encouragement.
The Bible
calls us to "let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all
wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs; singing with thankfulness in your heart to God."
Colossians 3:16.
To
fulfill this call we offer the following opportunities:
Congregation
This is our most important choir of which everyone is a member. We
meet each Sunday to sing our praise and adoration to the Lord.
Youth
Choir (for grades 7-12)
The youth sing for special occasions as scheduled.
Children
We have three graded choirs, which meet on Wednesday nights. Choirs
include: Preschool Choir (ages 4-5), Music Makers (grades 1-2) and Young
Musicians (grades 3-6). The children sing at special services at
Christmas and in the spring and often present a musical in the spring.
They also occasionally sing in Sunday worship.
Wednesday Night Live
Wednesday Night Live
“Run the race in such a way as to get the prize…”
1 Corinthians 9:24
Each Wednesday night during the school year, we gather as a church
family for our Wednesday Night Live program. We begin by enjoying
fellowship around the tables for supper, and then move into age-level
programs. A nursery is available for children under the age of two.
Children ages 2 through 12th grade participate in choir and mission
programs.
The adult program centers on mission education and discipleship
training. Usually, there will be two class options for adults to choose
between.
Wednesday nights at South Texarkana are a wonderful opportunity for us to
grow closer as a church family and to
Small Group Ministry
“Connections”, our Small Groups Ministry, would like to hear from anyone
interested in starting or becoming part of new small groups at South
Texarkana . The purpose of the Small Groups Ministry is to connect
people through fellowship, learning and personal ministry. Examples of
potential new groups are grief support, prayer groups, men’s fellowship,
terminal illness support, family issues, etc. You don’t have to be an
expert in one of these areas to facilitate a small group. Watch the
bulletin and future newsletters for a brief survey to express your
interest in becoming involved in “Connections”. For more information,
contact Jody Payne at (903) 794-1637, Small Group Coordinator.
